Drawing Drawing Drawing: Bunny Sketches

The last pic is actually on my iPad in Sketchbook Pro. My first attempt in this app!

I'm making it my goal to post more of my sketches and what I've been dappling with in my sketchbook. I think it might motivate me to draw more. How about you? What do you do to draw more?

Daily Doodles

I've completed a few more sketches. I didn't think daily doodling would require a lot of work! But when you've got a full time job like mine, it does take a bit of extra effort. Which is why I've decided to only do a couple of sketches a week. Yeah? Two or three? Maybe one? That will become my new challenge. It is more achievable and I'm almost certain I'll be able to do at least ONE sketch a week! Fingers and toes crossed!

Here are the new sketches:

Burn

Holiday

Family

Geisha

Tangled

Thin

Fresh

Let me know which one you like!

Daily Doodles

I hope everyone had a safe and brilliant Christmas and New Years. I've had a couple of weeks off during these festive holidays and I'm already back at work tomorrow (eek!)

I can not believe how quickly the holidays went, I had a million things I wanted to get done and the majority of my time was taken up by doing chores and house renovations.

So I do apologise for these daily doodles being so behind, and they're still not up to date but I thought I'd share what I've done so far. More to come later...

December 5th 2011 - Snow

December 6th 2011 - Talk

December 7th 2011 - Sea

December 8th 2011 - Cat

December 9th 2011 - Phone

December 13th 2011 - Craze

December 14th 2011 - Watch

December 15th 2011 - Game

December 16th 2011 - Winter

December 17th 2011 - Glide

December 19th 2011 - Believe

December 20th 2011 - Choose

December 21st 2011 - Later

That's a whole lot of sketches right? and it's only up until Dec 22nd! So behind. Will have to get onto more sketching right this minute. Hopefully in the next post I would have caught up.

Daily Doodles

Do you guys remember a while back, I did a drawing course hosted by Stephanie Fizer? Well, she has invited us to participate in a sketch challenge during the next year.

The challenge is this: Spend 15 minutes sketching every single day for 365 days. Yes, that's a whole year!

Now, I've probably already probably failed in this challenge as it started December 1 and I'm ALREADY behind! But I did catch up and have drawn all my daily doodles since then. Here they are:

December 1st 2011 - Night

December 2nd 2011 - Brilliant

December 3rd 2011 - Lush

December 4th 2011 - Real

I took a little bit of extra time to roughly colour these drawings too. It's been really great to put pencil to paper daily. I will try my bestest to post up my doodles every day, but it's more likely that I will post them up every couple of days or once a week because of my busy schedule. I will be setting aside at least 15 minutes out of the day to sketch though! That is a big challenge for me!

Do you guys sketch every day?

Sketching Daily

Hey guys,

I've been doing a really fun drawing course which has been forcing me to sketch daily. For anyone interested in the course, it's run by Stephanie Fizer and it's called INSPIRED DOODLES. We're only in Week 2 of the course, but so far I've learned a lot and been enjoying it even more. The best part of it is that every day, Stephanie sends us a word prompt that we have to do a sketch for and this has definitely forced me to get back into basics and continue to sketch.

Now, I work fulltime in a creative field already so my skills in sketching and drawing as well as my inspiration and motivation for it (not to mention time) has greatly diminished. With Stephanie's word prompts, and group's encouragement to keep sketching, I'm setting at least 15min every day to do a quick sketch! And you know what? It's been so much fun! It's very therapeutic too! After a long hard day at work, I look forward to coming home and doing my word prompt sketch!!!

Here is just a peak at some of the sketches I've done so far:
Library
Sunshine
Cat

Kawaii
Delicious
Because of the excitement and thrill of getting back into sketching, I've been sketching more on my on accord. I used to think that because of my lack of inspiration and motivation, and especially since time was of the essence being in fulltime work, when ever I did have some spare time to spend, I thought I needed to create a masterpiece straight away. But it doesn't work that way at all!! I need to sketch, sketch, sketch, and .... SKETCH! I've found that sketching IS the motivation and the inspiration!

If you guys want to follow my daily sketches either follow my twitter or flickr. I'll be posting daily sketches on those networks. You guys can join me too!!

This is my Illustration Friday sketch, the word was duet. I'm not going to submit these to the website because it's only a sketch, but I thought it was another great way to get into sketching. Might share these with you every week.

Hope you like them :) Let me know what you think!

What's in my sketchbook - New sketches

Thought I'd just give you guys a sneak peek of what I've been sketching lately. I've been working on building my characters and illustration style - long and lengthy process but I'll get there one day. Of course I've started with some dress-ups - Alice in Wonderland and some Wild Things. These are only sketches, I have yet to colour them!

What's in my Sketchbook - Ellie

Have a look at what's in my sketchbook this week. Continuing on with the movie 'UP' theme, I also sketched Ellie as a kid. I love how crazy, artistic and imaginative she is. Look at her hair and her clothes! Definitely inspiration for a later character development I think!

What's in my Sketchbook - Mr Fredricksen

I've been having a bit of trouble with my art lately and decided to go back to basics with drawing and sketching more. I want to get back to doing more 'hands-on' illustrating.

Here are a couple of sketches in my sketchbook I did recently. They're inspired from the movie UP, and it's Mr Fredricksen as a little boy, and when he's older. I'm going to colour them too but I'm not sure what I should do with these... (what do you think?)... anyway, for now it's just for me to continue drawing and practicing.

I had a lot of fun going back to sketching and shading with a pencil. I want to make more of an effort sketching so I'll hopefully be posting more of 'What's in my Sketchbook' every week. Let me know what you guys think!

Sketches

I've been doing a lot of sketching and experimenting lately. Here are 3 works in progress: Alice in Wonderland inspired Items, Billy Goats Gruff and Goldilocks and the 3 stuffed Bears teaparty. I coloured the Billy Goats Gruff in pastels but am eager to try my hands at colouring them digitally. Will let you know how it goes!
