Artwork: Loved Up Couple
Hello!
Sorry I've been MIA for like.... a month!? Oh my, I didn't even realise it's been that long. Anywho, I've been working on sketching and improving my digital painting skills. And look what happened?! Okay so it took me sketching, re-sketching, painting, re-painting, and several attempts at making the right brushes, but look see? - This cute little illustration of a boy and a girl in love. (OR maybe the girl is more in love with the boy than the boy is ? - what do you reckon?)

What's in my Sketchbook - Mr Fredricksen
I've been having a bit of trouble with my art lately and decided to go back to basics with drawing and sketching more. I want to get back to doing more 'hands-on' illustrating.
Here are a couple of sketches in my sketchbook I did recently. They're inspired from the movie UP, and it's Mr Fredricksen as a little boy, and when he's older. I'm going to colour them too but I'm not sure what I should do with these... (what do you think?)... anyway, for now it's just for me to continue drawing and practicing.
I had a lot of fun going back to sketching and shading with a pencil. I want to make more of an effort sketching so I'll hopefully be posting more of 'What's in my Sketchbook' every week. Let me know what you guys think!

NEW ITEMS: PDF Birth Announcements!
I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years? I did! Except that it has gone way too fast and weather down under has been pretty dismal! The sun has not been out to play and I havn't had much beach time! My new years resolution: to pay more attention to my Etsy store and fit more exercise into my life! What's yours?
I have posted up four different Birth Announcement designs in my store! They are all PDF printables, so all you need to do is send me the baby's details, and a gorgeously cute high res photo of your new arrival and I will send you the made up PDF for you to print and send off to as many people as you like!
Pretty nifty right?
BTW: it's my bday tomorrow! It comes around so quickly! I think I'll go see the new Sherlock Holmes movie and maybe get a massage? Looking forward to what ever happens!
Happy 2010!
Mel xx

When they get it all wrong...
I've been living with my boyfriend of 5 years for about 4 months now and I have been loving every minute of it (even right down to getting the groceries together). The other week my boyfriend decided to go grocery shopping by himself (he likes to go on a Thursday night because it's less busy and then doesn't interrupt his weekends) - I couldn't go because I was working late. I gave him no instructions, it was all left to his own accord and when I got home, he rushed over to me excitedly and told me about all the things he got - what we needed, what we didn't and any bargains or sales he managed to get from it! He did a pretty good job too - or so I thought until last night.
I told him we were down to the last role of toilet paper and he proudly said "Don't worry, I bought more!" As soon as he opened the packet, I started laughing uncontrollably. The colour drained from him face and before long we were both in tears. He accidently bought HAND PAPER TOWELS instead of toilet paper!!! I don't completely blame him though because in the packaging it looks like 2 toilet roles on top of eachother! But it certainly was hilarious, entertaining and an experience - especially now whenever I visit the loo!
