Sunday Picks

Just finished cleaning the whole apartment and now I'm exhausted. Plus I've been to the gym 3 times in 3 days (that's a lot for me!) and my body is in all sorts of pain. How was everyone else's week? Here are my Sunday Picks.

Favourite Video: I love any funny videos about dogs

Favourite Book: I just finished reading this one while in Fiji. Really interesting and easy to read.

Favourite Beauty Item: Canmake Mascara. I got this in Japan and it's great. I always go back to it. It lengthens, creates great volume, curls and is "multi"proof (meaning it's sweat, tear and humidity proof but will wash away with warm water). If anyone knows where I can buy it online let me know!

Favourite Dress: (from Windsor) Seriously considering this one as a Bridesmaid dress. It's gorgeous.

What's your favourite?
Have a beautiful week!

Favourite Book: Seriously a must read. Especially for all you dog lovers out there.

Favourite Dress: (from Forever New)

Favourite Beauty Item: L'Oreal Paris Matte Morphose Foundation. It's soufflé texture makes it very moisturizing.

My makeup tip

I love makeup as much as the next girl, and like every other girl, I don't have a fortune to spend on it! I've gone through a few makeup and foundation brands, and also different ways of applying it, but have finally found something I truly love.

For my makeup, all I use is Covergirl Clean Normal Skin Makeup in buff beige and I apply it using a foundation brush. I don't know why I've never thought to try applying makeup or foundation with a brush before, maybe because they usually come with an applicator, or it's just easier to use my fingers, but applying this makeup with a foundation brush really makes a difference!

All I do is pour a little makeup onto the brush, then I dab the brush into the lid to spread it around the brush more so I don't just have a big glob on the brush. I also don't waste the makeup, because now I can dab inside the lid if I need more. Then I just dot around my face and start brushing the makeup in. You really have more control and more evenness using a brush... maybe it's my artist ways, but I feel like it's more even and Covergirl's makeup is really smooth! It's water-based so it doesn't clog pores (and you can really feel it). Make sure you don't have brush strokes across your face though, so just blend the makeup with a circular motion using the brush to get rid of them. And that's it! Then I use a concealer and powder to finish it off!

Now here comes the best bit! These two items are so inexpensive it makes MAC look ridiculous! I bought the Covergirl Makeup at Target for only $16 AU, and the foundation brush (Artiste Manicare) at Priceline for only $11 AU (something you'll keep using too)! You'll probably need to buy a brush cleaner eventually (I havn't yet... anyone know of a good inexpensive brand of one?)

Remember, Covergirl you can buy anywhere - Priceline, Target, BigW, etc... and even at supermarkets like Woolworths and Coles, so wait til one of them has a special (one of them usually does!)

What's your favourite inexpensive makeup brands to use?

Laura Mercier Review

I've decided to blog more about myself, not just about my 'creative' side and about my art, but more about my thoughts, reviews and things going on in my life! I'll probably blog more often this way too!

Another thing that I like doing (like any other girl) and that I enjoy, is makeup, skin care products, health and beauty! So I will be blogging more about these sort of things! Just to clarify before talking about my experience with products, I'm not a professional makeup artist, or beauty expert or anything like that. I'm just going to talk about my experience with them.

A couple of weeks ago, I ordered a few Laura Mercier products online (not sure if you can buy them here in Australia). I've heard a lot about Laura Mercier products and really want to take better care of my skin, especially my face (I have normal to oily skin). Although quite expensive, I just wanted to give them a go. Here is what I got:

1. Laura Mercier Face Polish. 2. Laura Mercier One-Step Cleanser. 3. Laura Mercier Illuminating Brightener.

I've been using them probably for a week now and they are great! The first 2 days I started using them, I already noticed a difference. I use the face polish and cleanser in the shower. I use about a 10cent piece for the polish and one pump of the cleanser. In a circular massage pattern, I put it all over my face with both hands and really make sure to rub it around gently, not aggressively. Then I rinse with water. The polish removes dead skin cells leaving skin smooth and toned. The cleanser cleanses, tones, and removes makeup all in one! The cleanser feels so soft, smooth and gentle when I apply it, making me feel so hydrated after.  I also use one pump of the Illuminating Brightener and pat it around my face before applying makeup. It is a serum that evens the skin tone by renewing skin cells and eventually gives you a flawless complexion. They all smell beautiful too! These products really make a difference to my skin and in turn, my face looks so smooth and balanced in tone when makeup has been applied.

I really like these Laura Mercier products. Unlike some others that I've used before, they are very gentle and smooth on the skin, no pulling or dragging so as to not damage the skin or create any wrinkles later on.

Here are the links for where I bought these:

Have any of you guys had any experience with Laura Mercier products? If you do, I would love to hear about them, comment below!
